Heinz ZipsinHeinz Zipsin — General Manager

Heinz has spent his entire professional life of over 30 years in the coffee industry with the Volcafe Group. He started his career in Switzerland, before being transferred first to East Africa for a few years, and then to New York for most of the 80s. He returned to Volcafe headquarters in Switzerland in the early 1990s and spent the next 18 years trading all types of coffee. He joined Volcafe Specialty as General Manager in 2008.


John Moore — Assistant General Manager

John Moore first began a career in coffee in 1993 roasting a few thousand pounds per week and working as a barista in a small independent café roastery.  Since that time he has worked as a barista, coffee bar manager, Director in a publically held company, partner in two others, and managed a vertically integrated international coffee company with coffee farms, mills, roasting and retail operations.  John currently works as the Assistant General Manager of Volcafe Specialty Coffee based in New York City and spends his days connecting roasters with producers around the globe.

 

 


Sancho Zarraluqui — Trader

Sancho joined our group in 2010, during his first 2 years Sancho completed an intensive training program in CR, Perú and Colombia. He was the hired  as the  Specialty coffee manager at Carcafe, one of Volcafe’s biggest coffee operations and the largest private exporter in Colombia. As Specialty coffee manager Sancho was responsible for the certified and specialty business at Carcafe, including  FT, RA, ORG, UTZ, SCAA scoring coffee for VSC key accounts amongst others. In addition to his responsibilities in certified and specialty sales Sancho played an intricate role in sourcing and purchasing the parchment coffee, Sancho also assisted in the development of Carcafe’s Farm Support Organization (FSO) teams in order to develop and implement sustainability projects at the farm level. Sancho brings an extensive  knowledge on origin logistics, trading, specialty coffee sourcing, and sustainability to our team and he has now  joined our company here in New York.


Vidya Subramaniam — Accounting Manager

Vidya was born and raised in Madras (now Chennai), India. She holds a Bachelor’s degree from Ethiraj College for Women and a Master’s degree in Accounting from the University of Madras. She moved to the U.S. in 1995 and, after passing the CPA exams, spent the next 12 years working in private accounting. Vidya enjoys traveling and spending time with her husband and two children. She joined the Volcafe Specialty team in April of 2006.


Claire L’Esperance — Operations Manager

Claire L’Esperance graduated from Barnard College with a BA in Economics. She got her start in coffee working for Lombard World Trade. After gaining valuable experience in traffic, trade finance and risk management, she transferred to ED & F Man Cocoa, Inc., eventually becoming the traffic manager until that division closed. Claire has been with the Man Group since 1992 and now manages the logistics department at Volcafe Specialty Coffee. She has served on various committees at the CMAA and The Ice.


Yvonne LillieYvonne Lillie — Logistics Inbound

Yvonne Lillie has been working in Traffic & Logistics for the green coffee industry since 2004 and has been with Volcafe Specialty Coffee since December 2007. She is a native of Tahiti and fluent in French.


 Siobhan Gottlieb — Quality Control Manager Siobhan

A local to the San Francisco Bay Area, Siobhan started working in the coffee industry as a barista for a specialty roaster/café in 2006 and has since been a lead, trainer, coffee program consultant, and is now a licensed Q Grader through CQI. In February 2015, she joined the Quality Control Department at Volcafe Specialty Coffee and is running the lab as our Quality Control Manager. She endeavors to share great coffee with as many people as possible and delights in the coffee community that connects people from across the world. An active member of the Roaster & Barista Guilds of America, Siobhan enjoys participating in events such as Cup Tasters, SCAA Symposium, and the Good Food Awards.
